Abstract | Introduction: The literature indicates that addictive behavior is a risk factor for mental health, or that poor mental health can lead to addictive disorders. However, sports can act as a protective factor against the development of addictive behavior and the deterioration of mental health. Objective: To analyze trends and patterns in the scientific literature on education, mental health, healthy living, sports, and substance use among adolescents through a bibliometric analysis. Method: A quantitative-bibliometric review methodology is used, involving a search of the Web of Science Core Collection, yielding a sample of 240 academic-scientific articles from the period between 2014 and 2024, collected in June 2024. The variables considered were titles, abstracts, keywords plus, and author keywords, and the filters “Highly Cited Papers” and “Hot Papers” were used. The analysis was performed using the Biblioshiny interface of RStudio v.4.4.1 and VOSviewer.
