  • Methods for collecting student responses are as old as education itself: a raised hand, writing on a card, or a student coming to the blackboard. OpenPoll— www.openpoll.net—is a free and open-source solution for collecting, recording, and reporting student responses for formative assessment. OpenPoll is also simple—with less than 200 lines of code—yet provides similar functionality to the early versions of other common clicker devices.
