During the solar system portion of an introductory astronomy general education course, what to cover or leave out can be a difficult decision. This is true for the entire course, as a semester is a very limited amount of time for all the interesting topics available in astronomy. This is still true even for a solar system or, more commonly now, planetary science course of a two-semester introductory sequence. What follows is a description of some of the more interesting topics associated with the moons of our solar system’s giant, Jovian, planets that could be useful when deciding which of them to discuss.
