Intercultural education pursues the primary goal of promoting tolerance and mutual understand-ing between different people, through the study and understanding of the different cultural com-ponents and the ethnic, linguistic, ideological and religious differences of all of them. Thus un-derstood, this educational model has become the active principle of the contemporary Spanish educational system itself, and the hard core of the constitutional educational ideology enshrined in art. 27 CE. And in compliance with this ideology, citizenship education has been included in the curricular itinerary as a comprehensive training program, so that students can acquire the skills to define their own cultural identity and to appreciate the from others, reduce prejudices and stereotypes and promote civic and cultural enrichment in contemporary Spanish society
