    • A recent report from the National Academy of Science through the Board on Science Education looks at factors that can influence and improve the teaching and learning of STEM disciplines. Importantly, this includes discussion of both equity and effectiveness of teaching methods and interventions. The report is extensive and one key component is the articulation of seven principles for equitable and effective teaching of science. This editorial enumerates the principles and briefly summarizes aspects of each of them, to provide initial insight for the interested reader to consider gaining access to the report to read.
