Conectores e seu encadeamento em inferências: um estudo do conector reformulativo “na verdade”

    The objective of this paper is to study the 28 occurrences of the connective “na verdade” identified in a corpus formed by six presidential election debates, focusing on the inferential role of the connective, that is, “na verdade” does not connect segments of the discourse, but connects the segment it introduces in inferences, reformulating them. Seven occurrences of the expression were identified at the beginning of the intervention and 21 occurrences within the intervention. In the analyses, we used theoretical and methodological contributions from conversational pragmatics developed by Roulet and collaborators. The analyses revealed that the connector “na verdade” signals the relationship of non-paraphrastic reformulation in inference, allowing the speaker to express a change in enunciative perspective in relation to this inference. In the debates studied, most of the occurrences were linked to inferences derived from the opponent’s speech.

    O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar as 28 ocorrências do conector “na verdade” identificadas em um corpus formado por seis debates eleitorais presidenciais, focalizando o papel inferencial do conector, ou seja, o fato de que “na verdade” não se encadeia em segmentos do discurso, mas em inferências derivadas desses segmentos, reformulando-as. Foram identificadas sete ocorrências da expressão em início de intervenção e 21 ocorrências em interior de intervenção. Realizadas com base em contribuições teórico-metodológicas da pragmática conversacional desenvolvida por Roulet e colaboradores, as análises revelaram que o conector “na verdade” sinaliza a relação de reformulação não parafrástica entre o segmento que introduz e uma inferência, permitindo ao locutor expressar uma mudança de perspectiva enunciativa em relação a essa inferência. Dado o contexto do debate eleitoral, a maior parte das ocorrências se encadeou em inferências derivadas da fala de adversário.
