    O presente trabalho examina a recepção crítica da escrita literária feminina veiculada no jornal A Província do Pará no decênio final do século XIX a partir da relação entre crítica literária e imprensa e busca recuperar informações sobre a produção feminina oitocentista. Os artigos de crítica literária em jornal assinados pelos paraenses Juvenal Tavares e Theodoro Rodrigues, a respeito da produção de Maria Simões e Auta de Souza, respectivamente, bem como a carta crítica para Ibrantina Cardona escrita pelo colaborador maranhense Raul de Azevedo, e a crítica de Carlos Dias Fernandes discorrem acerca da produção literária feminina. A leitura e exposição das análises sobre o trabalho das autoras faz parte do olhar social do referido jornal acerca da escrita de mulheres e inserção delas no meio literário.

    This paper examines the critical reception of feminine literary writing conveyed in the newspaper A Província do Pará in the last decade of the nineteenth century based on the relation between literary criticism and press, it also tries to retrieve informations about the female production in the 1880s. The critical articles signed by Juvenal Tavares and Theodoro Rodrigues, both writers from Pará, regarding the production of Maria Simões and Auta de Souza, respectively, as well as the critical letter addressed to Ibrantina Cardona and written by the newspaper's collaborator from Maranhão Raul de Azevedo and the text of Carlos Dias Fernandes have as object the literary production of Brazilian feminine authors. The reading and exposition of the analyzes of the female authors' work is part of the newspaper's social gaze on the writing of women and their insertion in the literary milieu.
