El sueño, la muerte y la metáfora erótica

    Las formas de significación del erotismo en la poesía lírica castellana del siglo XV representan un desafío para el intérprete del siglo XXI. La labor hermenéutica se enfrenta a las dificultades que entraña reponer el contexto cultural de la época en relación conla esfera sexual, develar el código conque cifran los poetas cortesanos la práctica amatoria en sus composiciones, y, fundamentalmente, evitar caer en la sobre o subinterpretación en clave amorosa de los textos, máxime si se considera la aparentemente deliberada ambigüedad de la que hacen gala los autores, y que mantiene siempre en suspensouna exégesis definitiva.En este trabajo intentaremos arrojar algo de luz sobre el tema, abocándonos al análisisde dos obras de este período, una de Garci Sánchez de Badajoz, y otra de Pero Alvarezde Ayllon, en las que el eje que vertebra la estructura poética es el sueño de la propiamuerte del narrador. Trataremos de establecer el funcionamiento metafórico de estamuerte, la pertinencia de considerar una interpretación dual de la misma, el aporte queconstituyen al entendimiento de las maneras en que el quehacer lírico construye el discurso erótico, sin dejar de tener presente en el horizonte de comprensión la necesidadde una lectura atenta al entorno en el que surgieron estos textos, y la distancia históricaque nos separa de ellos.

    The forms of erotic significance in fifteenth-century Castilian lyric poetry pose achallenge to the interpreter in the twenty-first century. The hermeneutical task mustface the difficulties of reconstructing the cultural milieu for the sexual sphere,deciphering the code used by courtly poets to encrypt the amatory within their poemsand, more importantly, to avoid reading into the lines to find erotic meaning orotherwise miss it in the texts, especially while considering the deliberate ambiguityused by the authors, which defies the possibility of an authoritative exegesis.This paper sheds light on these issues by focusing on two works from this period, byGarci Sánchez de Badajoz and Pero Alvarez de Ayllon, both of which include dreams of the death of the narrator as their backbone. It analyzes how these deaths workmetaphorically, the relevance of a twofold interpretation and the contribution made tothe understanding of the construction of erotic discourse in lyric poetry, taking intoaccount, as part of the horizon of understanding, both the context in which the textswere written and the distance to the present.
