    La traducción del lenguaje soez y tabú para una audiencia hispanoamericana se caracteriza por el uso del español neutro como una medida reguladora y estilística establecida por las grandes productoras audiovisuales, con el objetivo de cumplir con las normas de comercialización de los productos audiovisuales. El presente artículo analiza las técnicas de traducción y estrategias de atenuación empleadas en la subtitulación y el doblaje de los términos soeces y tabúes de la película Dallas Buyers Club (2013) al español hispanoamericano. Además, aborda la caracterización y el uso del lenguaje soez y tabú de dos personajes principales en la trama, entre ellos Ron Woodroof (protagonista), un vaquero texano que se identifica con la cultura sureña estadounidense; y Rayon (coprotagonista), personaje transgénero sureña, quien también utiliza este lenguaje de manera recurrente en sus interacciones. Mediante una taxonomía, se identifican las subcategorías y tipos de expresiones soeces y tabúes para observar los cambios en la carga peyorativa de los textos metas. Específicamente, este trabajo se centra en estudiar la traducción y las funciones pragmáticas de los términos fuck y shit, de uso reiterativo en el discurso de ambos personajes. Finalmente, se pretende determinar de qué manera se representa la caracterización de los personajes en ambas modalidades tras la traducción de las expresiones soeces y tabúes.

    The translation of swear and taboo language for a Hispanic American audience is characterised by the use of neutral Spanish as a regulatory measure and stylistic restraints by giant audiovisual production companies to comply with the marketing standards of audiovisual products. This article examines the translation techniques and softening strategies employed in the subtitling and dubbing of taboo and swear language expressions into Hispanic American Spanish in the film Dallas Buyers Club (2013). Furthermore, it discusses the characterisation and use of swear and taboo language by two main characters in the plot: Ron Woodroof (main protagonist), a Texan cowboy identified with the Southern culture of the United States; and Rayon (co-star), a Southern transgender character, who also applies this type of language in a constant way during her interactions. Through a taxonomy, the subcategories and types of swear and taboo expressions are identified for the purpose of observing changes in the pejorative load within the target texts. Specifically, this study focuses on the translation and pragmatic functions of the terms fuck and shit, which are repeatedly used in the discourse of both characters. Finally, this article aims to determine how the portrayal of both characters are represented in the subtitled and dubbed version after the translation of swear and taboo expressions.
