Objective: The main articles published on Caseous lymphadenitis (CL) in small ruminants were analyzed, consulting Google Academic, Scopus, and PubMED web pages available on the Internet. Results: CL infection is an endemic disease, mainly in the herds of Mexico. There are strategies to prevent CL, although vaccines are not widely efficient. The clinical signs are evident, and CL can be prevented.Study Limitations/Implications: Few studies in Latin America have described the etiology, diagnosis, and prevention of CL. Findings/Conclusions: CL is a common disease in sheep and goat f locks. The disease affects the productivity of animals. However, there are good strategies for diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
