“Amor” segundo o ser humano e o ChatGPT: uma breve investigação na interface entre a linguística e a inteligência artificial

    The present investigation explores the conceptualization of “love” at the interface between linguistics and artificial intelligence (AI). It compares an existing research study on the cognitive understanding of “love” with a new experiment in which ChatGPT performs tasks related to the same theme. The research reveals that, although AI enables large-scale linguistic analyses, it still fails to reflect cultural and social nuances in its textual productions. The experiment is based on the postulates of cognitive linguistics to analyze how metaphors shape the understanding of “love” in texts produced by humans and machines. It is observed that AI, while producing coherent texts, often repeats linguistic stereotypes, failing to reflect the complexity of real human communication. Finally, it is concluded that collaboration between linguists and AI specialists is essential to explore the limitations of technology and its implications for language use and studies that promote linguistic analysis.

    A presente investigação explora a conceptualização de “amor” na interface entre linguística e inteligência artificial (IA). Compara-se uma pesquisa já existente sobre o entendimento cognitivo de “amor” a um novo experimento em que o ChatGPT executa tarefas relacionadas ao mesmo tema. A pesquisa revela que, embora a IA possibilite análises linguísticas em larga escala, ela ainda não se mostra capaz de refletir nuances culturais e sociais em suas produções textuais. O experimento parte dos postulados da linguística cognitiva para uma análise sobre como as metáforas moldam a compreensão de “amor” em textos produzidos por humanos e por máquinas. Verifica-se que a IA, embora produza textos coerentes, muitas vezes repete estereótipos linguísticos, não refletindo a complexidade da real comunicação humana. Por fim, conclui-se que a colaboração entre linguistas e especialistas em IA é fundamental para explorar as limitações da tecnologia e suas implicações no uso das línguas e nos estudos que promovem análise linguística.
