    This article focuses on the application of the pro homineprinciple by regional human rights protection systems. The objective of the article is to identify how the European, Inter-American, and African human rights protection systems apply the principle. Methodologically, the article is guided by qualitative research based on the analysis of decisions by regional human rights courts. As a theoretical reference, the concept of humanization of law worked by Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade is adopted. Structurally, the article comprises an analysis of the humanization of international law as the origin of the pro homineprinciple, through the dialectic between the universality of human rights and the regionalism of protection systems and through a taxonomic discrimination of the application of the pro homineprinciple by regional human rights systems

    O presente artigo tem por tema a aplicação do princípio pro homine pelos sistemas regionais de proteção dos direitos humanos. O objetivo do artigo é identificar como os sistemas europeu, interamericano e africano de proteção dos direitos humanos aplicam o referido princípio. Metodologicamente, o artigo se orienta por uma pesquisa qualitativa que tem como base a análise de decisões das Cortes regionais de direitos humanos. Como referencial teórico, adota-se o conceito de humanização do direito trabalhado porAntônio Augusto Cançado Trindade. Estruturalmente, o artigo compreende uma análise da humanização do direito internacional como origem do princípio pro homine, pela dialética entre universalidade dos direitos humanos e regionalismo dos sistemas de proteção e por uma discriminação taxonômica da aplicação do princípio pro hominepelos sistemas regionais de direitos humanos.
