Reality as such is a cultural construction, an architecture of words, an invention of humanity. For society in general, the north and the south exist as two different worlds in which the north is a constant threat to the south; in which the wealth of one means the poverty and perdition of the other. Those of us who have lived in both worlds know that this idea is tricky and that we should not fall into the temptation of looking at both worlds from the perspective of the thought that invented it, but rather from that of the subjects that inhabit them.

This paper aims to offer an alternative view of the two worlds, bringing together the experience and knowledge of two educators who have inhabited them for long periods of their lives and meeting subjects who coincide in their searches, fears, dreams and projects.

Motivated by the idea of Paulo Freire who maintains that dialogue if it is based on love, humility and faith in men allows a horizontal relationship in which the trust of one pole in the other is an obvious consequence, we are encouraged to look for words that put the two worlds into dialogue with the same subjects.

The current conditions in which we live on this planet, some facing hunger, poverty, homelessness and exclusion and others facing war, terrorism, consumption and suicide; they generate the same suffering for humanity and the same desire to reverse situations regardless of the place where they live, today more than ever: “if an education is not liberating, it ends up forming oppressors”, beyond the north or the south.
