  • Resumen
    • The main aim of this thesis is to study the expectations and preferences of the Catalan population regarding the public health system, and an appraisal of the influence played by factors such as age, gender, geographical origin and socioeconomic status. Secondarily, the effect of the economic crisis on patient satisfaction with the health service is evaluated. The results showed the high importance attached by patients to competency and relationships with health professionals. Patient expectations were met by competency and respectful manner, but not by closeness in the relationship established with the healthcare professional. As to the factors studied, the most influential was age, followed by socioeconomic status. This thesis reflects a greater influence of the economic crisis and health cuts in the elderly, who in turn present a greater dissatisfaction and failed expectations
