  • Resumen
    • This doctoral thesis deals with Locuras de Europa, the last literary work of the writer and diplomat Diego de Saavedra Fajardo (1584-1648). After several years in the service of Philip IV in Italy and Central Europe, in 1643 Saavedra was appointed Ambassador Plenipotentiary to attend the peace conference in Münster. During the inactive periods between the peace negotiations, he wrote his Locuras de Europa, a Lucianesque dialogue that analyzed the political situation in Europe at the end of the Thirty Years War. This thesis seeks to address not only the formal analysis of the work -with a study of literary influences and of the role it played in the propaganda war, news and political pamphlets- but also aims to highlight the wide and hitherto unknown circulation of the text, through the exhaustive study of twenty unpublished testimonies, which make possible a far better critical text, correcting the errors and gaps that the established editions of the work have transmitted up to now.
