En esta tesis se analiza la prevalencia de la discriminación racial y de género, así como su impacto en la literatura que se hace explícito por la representación negativa de las mujeres negras del Caribe hispano. Se distinguen los puntos de vista eurocéntricos, racistas, sexistas e ideológicos, así como otras deformaciones del legado cultural relacionado con las mujeres negras. Por tanto, el estudio advierte sobre la necesidad de "reconstruir" la representación de las mujeres de ascendencia africana, sometida a la distorsión de estereotipos degradantes, para aumentar la visibilidad y el reconocimiento de su contribución cultural, especialmente como artistas. La urgencia de una antología de sus obras, se propone con el fin de promover su difusión. La tesis se estructura en tres partes. Los fundamentos teóricos y conceptuales, la teoría de la representación social, en general, y de la representación social de las mujeres en particular, son considerados en la primera parte. Damos cuenta de algunos conceptos y puntos de vista sobre sexo, género, raza y etnicidad, por su dispersión y variedad. Dada la importancia de los personajes en la construcción del texto narrativo, abordamos algunas consideraciones al respecto, desde la perspectiva del análisis del discurso. También se abordan los conceptos de recepción textual e identidad femenina. Por último, se examinan los orígenes del racismo y las causas de su persistencia en las islas del Caribe hispano. En la segunda parte, se trata sobre la representación de los negros en la cultura caribeña, particularmente en Cuba, Puerto Rico y la República Dominicana y los problemas que persisten en la representación de la mujer negra en la literatura de los países antes mencionados. Avanzamos una propuesta acerca de la reconstrucción de la representación de las mujeres negras del Caribe, sobre la base del análisis de obras representativas de negras escritoras caribeñas. Asimismo, se presentan obras de escritoras representativas del Caribe no-hispanohablante con el fin de completar la representación de las mujeres negras de la Región. Por último, en la tercera parte, presentamos la producción de creadoras negras en otros ámbitos, como el cine, las artes plásticas, la Blogosfera y la acción preformativa, esta última, como modalidad de la dramaturgia contemporánea. La correspondencia de la autora de esta tesis con la escritora negra cubana, Inés María Martiatu Terry, se adjunta como Apéndice, así como la transcripción de una entrevista realizada a esta autora en relación con esta tesis.

This thesis examines the prevalence of racial and gender discrimination as well as their impact in literature that is made explicit by the negative representation of black women of the Hispanic Caribbean. Eurocentric, racist, sexist and ideological views are distinguished, as well as other deformations of the cultural legacy related to black women. Therefore the study warns about the need to "rebuild" the representation of women of African descent, subjected to the distortion of degrading stereotypes, and to increase the visibility and recognition of their cultural contribution, particularly as writers. The urgency of an anthology is suggested in order to promote its dissemination.
The thesis is organized into three parts. The theoretical and conceptual foundations in the form of theories of social representation, in general, and of the social representation of women are considered in the first part. Only certain concepts and points of view on sex, gender, race and ethnicity are considered, given their dispersion and variety. Given the importance of characters in the construction of narrative text, we also review this element from different perspectives, based on the analysis of discourse. We also mention the concepts of textual reception and female identity. Finally, the origins of racism and the causes of its persistence in the islands of the Hispanic Caribbean are examined. In the second part, we deal with the representation of blacks in Caribbean culture, particularising in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The problems that persist in the representation of black women in the literature of the aforementioned countries are synthesized also. We advance a proposal about the reconstruction of the representation of Caribbean black women, based on the analysis of representative work of Caribbean black women writers. Also, we present representative work of non-Hispanic Caribbean authors in order to complete the representation of black women in the region. Finally, in the third part, the production of black female creators in other areas, such as cinema, plastic arts, internet and performative action as a modality of contemporary drama, are considered.
