Resumen de Estimación de la producción y transporte de sedimentos en cuencas urbanas pequeñas a escala de evento mediante un modelo de base física basado en SIG

Jeannette del Carmen Zambrano Nájera

  • Huge modifications have been made to landscape or urban watersheds, especially in twentieth century, caused by increases in urbanization have led to progressive increases in runoff flows and therefore sediment production. These conditions are exacerbated in climates with high rainfall intensities and short duration, such as those occurring in the Mediterranean Coast. These sediments especially coarse sediments can cause erosion problems and obstruction of drainage systems which in turns reduce hydraulic capacity. For these reasons, it is more and more important to study of sediment production by water erosion in header urban watershed. One way of doing this is by modeling the processes that transform rainfall rate, as well as production, transport and depos ilion of sediments. The objective of this work is to develop a model to estimate production and transport of sediments, which are useful for predicting the behavior of sediments in header urban watersheds. For this reason, it is proposed a new distributed physically based model applicable to watersheds with rainfall conditions similar to those in Mediterranean Coast (high intensity, short duration). The model is successfully applied to two basins with totally different validation conditions .
