    • BPTF (Bromodomain PHD Transcription Factor) es the mammalian orthologue of Drosophila Nurf301 and constitutes the largest subunit of the ATP-dependent chromatin remodelling complex NURF (Nucleosome Remodelling Factor). BPTF has specialized domains that bind to the activating epigenetic marks H3K4me3, H4K16Ac and H2A.Z. It also recruits sequence specific transcription factors to the chromatin-although their identity in mammalian cells is largely unknown. It has been established that BPTF is critical during early mouse embryonic development; however, its role in adult tissue homeostasis is only beginning to be deciphered. In addition, growing evidence suggests that BPTF plays an important role in human tumorigenesis. Until now, however, the power of genetic mouse models of cancer has not been exploited to assess the role of BPTF in tumor formation and/or maintenance.
