Resumen de El obispado de Tui en la Edad Media: sus iglesias románicas

El territorio de la diócesis de Tui en la Edad Media abarcaba de la ría de Vigo al río Limia hasta 1444; incluyendo además el arciprestazgo de Ribadavia y las parroquias de Padrenda y Desteriz, que los pierde en 1955.
La zona entre los ríos Miño y Lima es el embrión de Portugal, Alfonso VI restablece el condado Portucalense a finales del siglo XI, confiándoselo a su yerno Enrique. En 1143, consiguen la independencia política por el tratado de Zamora pero eclesiásticamente continuó dependiendo de Tui hasta casi el final del medievo; por tanto las iglesias que se levantaron en ese ámbito cronológico hay que estudiarlas como integrantes de la diócesis de Tui.
Se analizarán todas las iglesias que pertenecían a dicho obispado y que conservan restos de su pasado románico; observándose que la catedral de Tui es el referente a seguir por la mayoría de los maestros que erigieron iglesias a ambos lados del Miño; impacto que se yuxtapone y convive con planteamientos, iconos y motivos propios del románico portugués; el cual llega a tierras gallegas tanto de la ribera miñota, como de la actual provincia de Ourense, en la que la diócesis tenía importantes posesiones.
