El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral era el análisis de la influencia del inglés en la terminología de Internet en alemán y español e investigar la incorporación al alemán y al español de los términos más representativos de las obras de consulta estándar de las sociedades alemana y española.
La idea de esta tesis doctoral surgió en torno al fenómeno de la influencia del inglés en la terminología de informática e Internet, que ya analicé e investigué en trabajos anteriores, como en el proyecto fin de carrera (2000) y en el trabajo de investigación para el programa de doctorado Traducción, Sociedad y Comunicación (2003).
La presente tesis doctoral se compone de dos partes diferenciadas. En primer lugar, se ofrece una parte inicial que pretende establecer los pilares previos a la descripción de la investigación, que es el aporte novedoso de esta tesis. Esta primera parte abarca los tres primeros capítulos. En el primero de ellos, se estudian los aspectos lingüísticos de la influencia de inglés, tanto en la lengua en general, como en la terminología y la creación de palabras; en el segundo, se ofrecen consideraciones sobre la traducción y las nuevas tecnologías; mientras que en el tercero, se explica nuestro enfoque textual y la importancia de Internet.
La segunda parte está constituida por otros tres capítulos que, cronológicamente, incluyen la descripción de la investigación y de la metodología aplicada en ella, el análisis detallado de los términos alemanes y españoles del corpus y, finalmente, las conclusiones que hemos podido extraer de nuestra investigación, en la que se incluye la consideración de las posibles razones de la influencia del inglés en la terminología informática e Internet, así como algunas sugerencias en cuanto a la incorporación de anglicismos en las lenguas alemana y española.
Para nuestra investigación analizamos un total de 994 términos (200 términos ingleses, 401 términos alemanes y 393 términos españole) por su uso y frecuencia durante el período de investigación de 2006 a 2010, con la idea de manifestar la existencia de una gran influencia del inglés en la terminología informática y de Internet en alemán y español. En primer lugar, realizamos una clasificación de los términos alemanes y españoles en tres tipos (anglicismos puros, anglicismos adaptados y calcos) con el fin de analizar la influencia del inglés en cada una de estas dos lenguas. En segundo lugar, verificamos el índice de frecuencia de cada uno de estos términos analizados para, posteriormente, comprobar su incorporación en las obras de consulta estándar de las sociedades alemana y española: el diccionario DUDEN y el diccionario de la Real Academia Española (DRAE).
Por último, comparamos los términos no recogidos directamente pero que conformaban el conjunto de términos frecuentes, con el ánimo de matizar y completar nuestras conclusiones finales en cuanto a la influencia del inglés y la correspondiente incorporación al alemán y español.
Esta obra finaliza con los anexos, que contienen los glosarios de los términos alemanes y españoles seleccionados y analizados con las referencias a sus fuentes correspondientes, y con el listado bibliográfico empleado.

The objective of this PhD thesis is to analyse the influence of English in the Computer Science and Internet terminology in German and Spanish, and the corresponding incorporation of the analysed terms in the German and Spanish language in standardized reference books of the German and Spanish society. The idea of this Phd thesis has its origin in former works about the comprensible representation of web pages and the influence of English in the Internet terminology of German and Spanish, as well as in a personal interest in the virtual library (Internet) and the influence of English.
Thus, the thesis is subdivided in four parts: the theoretical part, the practical part, the conclusions and the annexes. The theoretical part comprises four chapters. The first chapter gives a general overview about linguistic aspects, such as the German and Spanish language, the lingua franca ¿ the English language, technical jargons, terminology and its parameters in the world of translation. Chapter two represents an introduction in the translation field including the procedures of translation and their rules. The third chapter comprises a textual approach by analysing, for instance, the classification and typology of text, as well as the characteristics of a text and its possible forms. In addition, this chapter studies the Internet as a tool for translators, as a global virtual library, as the source of this thesis, as well as its terminology. In the fourth chapter, the corpus and the methodological context are defined. Furthermore, part of the analysed bibliography is represented in this chapter as those presented books played an important role within the development of the thesis.
The practical part represents the research carried out and comprises a serie of analyses and comparisons in text and table form. For the research, 994 terms were analysed in which 200 English terms formed the base, and 401 German and 393 Spanish terms completed the corpus. The determined period of the analyses lasted from 2006 until 2010. Moreover, the German and Spanish terms were classified as pure anglicism, adapted anglicism and calque with the objective to analyse the influence of English in both languages and to compare, on the one hand, what kind of term is more incorporated in the analysed languages and, on the other hand, until what point the pure anglicisms form part of the common language of both societies.
The conlcusions as the third part of this thesis represent the obtained results and a possible answer on why does English influence in the Computer Science and Internet terminology in German and Spanish. For instance, the increase of the influence of English had been confirmed by the results, even though the influence in the German terminology seems higher than in the Spanish terminology. Moreover, the German terminology applies more frequently a pure anglicism than the Spanish terminology and also recognises more English terms.
The annexes constitute the last part of the thesis and comprises the glossaries of the analysed German and Spanish terms.
