Esta investigación parte de la preocupación por la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de la empatía en trabajo social, como elemento fundamental de los procesos relacionales. La observación del alumnado de trabajo social, que se considera altamente empático pero manifiesta dificultades para mostrarse empático en las relaciones que establece en el aula, estimuló el interés por conocer cómo se está produciendo la enseñanza de la empatía y si se está abordando desde una perspectiva multidimensional que proporcione a los estudiantes un equipaje afectivo, cognitivo y actitudinal que les permita establecer relaciones empáticas en su futuro profesional. El objeto sobre el que dirige su mirada esta investigación es, por lo tanto, la formación teórico-práctica en materia de empatía del estudiantado de Grado en Trabajo Social. La palabra empatía, muy popularizada últimamente, se emplea con diversas acepciones, siendo considerada una habilidad, una actitud, e incluso un rasgo de personalidad. Según sea la consideración que del concepto se tiene, así será la manera en que se aborde su aprendizaje. Los objetivos generales de esta investigación son revisar y actualizar los conceptos en torno a la empatía y su aplicación en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje del trabajo social; elaborar un mapa de la integración de la empatía en la formación de Grado en Trabajo Social de las Universidades españolas; analizar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de la empatía en el alumnado de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y conocer la valoración que hacen de ella tanto los propios estudiantes como los docentes y señalar la relación entre los conocimientos y habilidades proporcionados al estudiantado para dar respuesta a las necesidades sociales y los principios y objetivos establecidos por el trabajo social...

This investigation is part of my interest in education and the teaching of empathy in Social Work as a basic element of the relational processes. By observing Social Work students, who are considered highly empathic but show some difficulties when showing empathy in the relationships stablished in class, I stimulate their interest for knowing how empathy is being taught and if it is being addressed from a multidimensional perspective that provides students with an affective, cognitive and attitudinal baggage, that will allow them to stablish empathic relationships in their professional future. The main objective of this investigation is the theoretical and practical training of empathy in the students of the Social Work degree. The word empathy, which has been used several times lately, it has different meanings, such as a skill, an attitude or a personality trait. Depending on the consideration that someone has of the concept, it will affect the way in which such concept is taught.
