Concepts reflect the mentality of different peoples, as well as their life and their conception of it. They are a complex result of the reflection of the outer world and its learning. As the reality that we live in tends to change with time, the concepts change as well. The study of the concepts is an area of investigation which opens many perspectives in linguistics. The concepts are approached from the multiple points of view as, for example, the cultorological, the linguistic or philosophic among the others. The object of this study is the semantic structure of the concept of «fidelity» in the Spanish, Russian and English languages, taking into account its development throughout history up to the present moment. By focusing on the investigation of a single concept, attention will be directed toward the cultural sphere, expanding this sphere to the limits imposed by the three cultures or peoples that are the subject of this study The material used in the investigation process consists mainly of the definitions of the word «fidelity» from various dictionaries, as well as the reactions obtained as a result of the associative experiment, not forgetting the examples in the form of quotations and fragments taken from literary works belonging to the literary traditions of the countries under study. Likewise, the corpus of phraseological units relative to the concept of the present study was used. There are two main benefits of this study. On the one hand, the analysis of concepts helps us understand our own history, our evolution and the features of our modern society. On the other hand, this study can have practical uses in the creation of new dictionaries and thesauri, which can include more complex explanations reflecting the mental images of different peoples.
