  • Resumen
    • In the present work a mathematical model is developed to investigate, by numerical simulation, all the physical phenomena that take place inside an industrial furnace designed for metallurgical purification of the photovoltaic devices bulk material. The purpose is to obtain a numerical simulation tool to study and control the behavior of these furnaces, to determine the influence of geometric parameters and operating conditions in their efficiency and to improve the system productivity. All with the goal that this tool can be useful for the companies that incorporate the metallurgical purification route in its manufacturing process. The economic and environmental cost of the metallurgical route is significantly lower than that of the traditional route. The overall process in the furnace is complex due to the coupling of the different physical phenomena that take place. Detailed description of mathematical models and numerical methods selected, as well as their suitability, is another intended objective not found in literature.
