The combined effect of environmental stress caused by anthropogenic pressures and climate change is affecting the health of ecosystems and marine species. The economy of the northwestern Iberian Peninsula, particularly Galicia, is significantly dependent on shellfisheries activities in the Rías Baixas, where this sector could be impacted by global warming. Therefore, it is necessary to study the potential impacts at both regional and local scales in order to develop mitigation and adaptation measures that help build a more resilient sector. This thesis aims to analyze the potential effects of long-term warming, extreme temperature events, and changes in water quality in the Rías Baixas, focusing on key species for shellfish harvesting. To achieve this, numerical models will be used, as their strength allows obtaining high-resolution data and anticipating the potential effects of climate change, identifying the most vulnerable areas and providing key information on environmental conditions.
