The trip and each of the ways of traveling have provided literary and graphic evidence of a different nature. The perception of a foreign reality is formed by patterns of the observer's own individual culture, resulting in written texts that are highly subjective but can shed a lot of light on the study of historical-artistic heritage. To understand the meaning of the idea of travel for the European culture of modern times, we must think that writing has changed as much as the nature of the trip itself and the profile of the traveler, but the main characteristics of the odyssey experience have been maintained over time. Following the line of research into travel books, this work has analyzed the state and valuation of historical-artistic heritage of Extremadura through this literary genre during the Modern Age (1453-1789). To know and analyze the different impressions narrated by the travelers studied and understand the evolution and appreciation of the historical-artistic heritage of Extremadura, we have focused on the perspective of some European authors who were not Spanish. Thus, some general have been drawn that articulate the process of design and preparation of this essay, analyzing the sources, carrying out the interpretation of the information, turning to the database, field work and creation of specific cartography on thirty six travelers, thirty five works, thirty four municipalities and one hundred and sixty historical-artistic assets in the region.
