This research aims at exploring understandings of death in both Christianity and Buddhism. However, the perspective of Buddhism is not developed based on conventional Christian prejudices; instead, the methodological approach is diatopical hermeneutics having the cosmotheandric intuition of Raimon Panikkar as its guiding thread. Diatopic hermeneutics, a method created by Panikkar, is a way to go from one's religious tradition to the other. Thus, a dialogue between the different understandings of Christianity and Buddhism takes place here, far from claiming superiority of one over the other, in order to give away to mutual growth. Consequently, this interreligious dialogue results in a deeper understanding of the mystery of death, which is not detached from the mystery of life, the primary objective of this investigation.
