La menopausia es un proceso biológico en producen cambios que con frecuencia afectan a nivel biológico, psicológico y social y que suelen acompañar a la mujer durante la postmenopáusia. Teniendo en cuenta que un alto porcentaje de mujeres pasan un tercio de su vida en este periodo y los múltiples síntomas que lo acompañan, la finalidad de esta tesis doctoral fue analizar las capacidades cognitivas en mujeres postmenopáusicas mayores de 65 años y las posibles asociaciones entre éstas con la calidad del sueño, riesgo de sarcopenia y capacidades físicas y dependencia funciona. Para ello se usaron datos sociodemográficos, antropométricos y se evaluaron variables cognitivas con las pruebas MMSE, Moca, test de Isaacc, TMT y Stroop. La ansiedad y depresión se evaluó con HADS, la calidad del sueño con PSQI, la dependencia funcional con el índice de Barthel y las variables físicas con las pruebas TUG, SPPB y un dinamómetro manual.
Menopause is a biological process that produces changes that frequently affect the biological, psychological and social level and that usually accompany women during postmenopause.
Taking into account that a high percentage of women spend a third of their lives in this period and the multiple symptoms that accompany it, the purpose of this doctoral thesis was to analyze cognitive abilities in postmenopausal women older than 65 years and the possible associations between them with the quality of sleep, risk of sarcopenia and physical abilities and dependency it works. Anxiety and depression were evaluated with HADS, sleep quality with PSQI, functional dependence with the Barthel index, and physical variables were evalauted with the TUG test, SPPB tests, and a manual dynamometer.
