Resumen de Gènere, premsa musical rock i feminisme punk: eeuu, uk i espanya als 80's

Angels Bronsoms

  • This research is part of the tradition of gender studies and wants to shed light on the informational treatment given to women in music magazines in the US, UK and Spain, addressing a study of gender representation through a quantitative analysis and qualitative. The starting hypothesis is that the misogynistic vision of women in patriarchal society has made the contributions of the artists in rock music invisible, based on the transmission of discriminatory stereotypes.

The methodology that will allow us to categorize the presence-absence and discrimination in the treatment of women in rock is the content analysis with a gender perspective of three musical publications from 1980, which were representative of the music scene of the time: Rolling Stone ( United States), New Musical Express (United Kingdom) and Vibraciones (Spain). Likewise, the qualitative method of in-depth interviews with women representing punk from the 3 countries studied has been used to show how the artists from this subculture perceived exclusion
