Building construction is one of the strategic sectors for the European Union to achieve a low-carbon economy. This doctoral thesis evaluates the techniques as techniques for a circular and regenerative economy (Best Available Techniques) towards sustainable and comfortable buildings. On the one hand, buildings must guarantee adequate thermal comfort. Techniques related to the improvement of the thermal envelope and solar shadow devices are analysed. On the other hand, adequate indoor air quality must also be guaranteed, so a review of f both the current hazards in buildings and the techniques to maintain air quality at healthy values is carried out. Regenerative techniques are considered by the evaluation of the building behaviour when wastes are use as construction materials.
