  • Resumen
    • A synthetic route based on diffusion and galvanic processes for the production of multilevel hollow-structured nanoparticles at room temperature was developed. The capability and feasibility of this approach have been demonstrated in synthesis of porous, single-walled, multi-walled and multi-chamber hollow metal particles with spherical, cubic and cylindrical topologies. Some of the morphologies obtained have not been reported yet. With silver nanoparticles as templates and gold, palladium and platinum ions as oxidizing agents, hybrid metallic in the form of polymetallic alloys or monometallic multilevel hollow-structured nanoparticles were produced. High-quality Pt-Ag alloy hollow nanoparticles with composition in the miscibility gap at room temperature were obtained. Mathematical modeling and characterization as tools to study, understand and interpret the processes and results were used. Physical properties and potential applications as active catalysts, photothermal transducers, and sensing, delivery and release systems are presented.
