In recent decades there has been a growing interest in the study of production systems as a whole, over organizations as particular units, especially the analysis of organizational networks and the configurations they present. From this perspective, the study focuses on the analysis of the public health organizational networks of the Ñuble region in Chile, through the flows of patients that are derived between the different health centers and their impact on the development of the network management.
The analysis of organizational networks is a research methodology that has been gaining great importance among business, academic, scientific communities, among others, for the possibility of understanding multiple processes of organizational structures, which offers great potential as a management tool, since it allows to understand relational links and that can explain, among other things, the results of the network.
To achieve the proposed objective, we work on three fundamental parts. First, the foundation, which consists of making a tour of the main concepts, antecedents and potentialities of network analysis. Secondly, the contextualization of the methodology, where a set of metrics and indicators is proposed to analyze the dynamics of network flows. And finally, the application is made to obtain relevant conclusions, and initiate a formal approach to the analysis of health networks, with the aim of becoming a measurement system and indicators to analyze and evaluate the Chilean public health organizational networks as a mechanism of management control that allows focusing better the interventions aimed at influencing the behavior of the members that make up the network to increase their efficiency .
Finally, the research has two purposes: to analyze the possibilities of this methodology in the health field and; disseminate in a simple way the techniques and analytical tools of networks, to broaden the knowledge we have about the application of these studies, and to use it as a starting point for future applied research in the field of management control of health networks.
