  • Resumen
    • In health, the evolution is constant and new technical skills are emerging and are becoming increasingly complex and the students require more practice. It is recognized that in this area, education is progressively more enhanced with virtual learning environments. These environments make it possible to practise a wide range of exercises and experiences, without any risk for the patients.

The research that is presented is a training model for developing skills in chronic wounds context. This model allows simulating the diagnosis and treatment of patients with chronic wounds. For this, a prototype was developed named e-fer that enables nursing students to diagnose and treat virtual patients and the obtained results are evaluated in a Blended Learning context. The system provides specific feedback to provide a set of customized information, about the learning processes that need to be mastered. This research seeks to address the need to integrate the Information Technologies and Communication in Nursing Graduation Degree in the field of chronic wounds and contribute to an improvement of the training process.

Developing skills for treating and diagnosing chronic wounds requires not only academic knowledge, but also other types of knowledge not easily acquired through traditional instructional methodologies. The expertise obtained by individuals, when they are solving real life practical cases, is very important to diagnose and correctly treat chronic wounds. This additional empirical knowledge is not easily transmitted in classrooms, and so the academic instruction should be completed with real life practical examples and practical cases studies.
