Resumen de When dragon awakening meets bull sleeping: a multi-case study on the globalization path-configuration of chinese firms in Spain

Xiaoxi Chang

  • In this thesis, we have tried to analyze the practical features of the internationalization of Chinese enterprises. Seven cases are studied based on in-depth interviews with Chinese enterprises operating in Spain, so as to analyze the motivation, entry model and the operation process of Chinese MNEs in Spain, as well as provide some theoretical cues for the global operation of Chinese MNEs.

This research on cases has not only enriched the research context wherein Chinese EMNEs gain access to a particular context of developed but recessive economies (i.e., Spain) but it has also revealed the leading motivation and suitable entry mode of Chinese EMNEs within a specific global context. In addition, this paper puts forward the conceptual model of the Learning-Integrating-Delivering model, which reflects the internationalization process of Chinese enterprises entering developed economies, apart from absorbing and learning the knowledge and experience of developed countries or regions and even improving mutual fusion and knowledge sharing. The delivery capability that these Chinese enterprises output their practices and knowledge of effective operation and management at home is emphasized more. Compared with their absorptive capability, this research holds that, with the more in-depth internationalization of Chinese enterprises, the delivering capability of these enterprises is bound to play an increasingly important role. Chinese enterprises will export their experience of operation and management accumulated at home to the outside world, including the developed countries or regions they enter, and even become a bridge or carrier bringing more Chinese macro-economic systems, policies and excellent cultural elements to the Western world, thus promoting the constant integration and optimization of Eastern and Western traditional cultural spirits and modern management practices and providing additional and integral insight into the study of the internationalization of Chinese MNEs.
