The Thesis emphasizes that relations between1900 and 1936 were based on the purchase of Chilean nitrate Spanish and revolved around this fact all political actions. In the economic sphere, there were other features: the trade balance favored Chile; Spanish products that were sold were more predominant diversified manufacturing textiles, olive oil, canned food and cigarette papers and took these trade relations out through foreign intermediaries. In the political sphere, both countries sought to improve economic relations and worked to secure bonds of friendship and mutual support, especially within the League of Nations, there were some links fluids in the military since Spain supplied of arms to Chile and favored the formation of its military in the schools of his army.

Holm oak (Quercus ilex ssp. ballota [Desf.] Samp.) is an evergreen tree widely distributed in the western Mediterranean Basin. Holm oak has a poor natural regeneration, because of this it has been widely used in forest restoration programs in the Iberian Peninsula, especially in the last 10 years. However, these programs have enjoyed only limited success due to Holm oak is very vulnerable to stress conditions, especially during their first stages of life. Poor seedlings quality used in reforestation can have morphological and physiological characteristics that would impede a proper field performance. Manipulation of nutrient availability is one of the most powerful tools modifying plant characteristics. However, it still remains uncertain its effect on seedling quality and field performance of Mediterranean Holm oak. This Thesis analyzes the effect of autumn fertilization on Holm oak seedling quality parameters and field performance.
