Resumen de Definition of a resource management strategy for dynamic performance tuning of complex applications

José Alexander Guevara Quintero

  • Resource management and performance models constitute important aspects for parallel applications' performance analysis and tuning. Defining performance models associated with the application structure has been proven useful for implementing dynamic tuning tools. However, for extending this strategy to complex pplications (those composed by different structures) it is necessary to integrate resource reallocation policies between the different application components. Consequently, we propose to take advantage of the knowledge given by the application's structure and combine it with a resource management strategy for improving the overall application's performance. We present a detailed description of the general strategy and its implementation for the particular case of the composition of Master/Worker and Pipeline structures and, finally, we show the performance improvements that can be obtained from the application of this strategy.
