Resumen de Borges y la tradición de la literatura inglesa. La formación de un canon estético
El objetivo del presente trabajo de investigación es mostrar las relaciones entre Jorge Luis Borges y dos de los autores ingleses que más influyeron en su cosmovisión literaria: Robert Burton y Samuel Johnson. Estos dos autores, le sirvieron de modelo canónico y, a su vez, le abrieron a Borges otras vías de interrelación hacia otras conexiones más amplias, tanto de autores como de temas, principalmente dentro del ámbito de la literatura inglesa. Se ha estudiado el código artístico de la melancolía como posible nexo entre Borges y la literatura inglesa. Y se defiende cómo la biografía sobre Borges que escribió Bioy-Casares pudo tener como referencia la Vida de Samuel Johnson, escrita por James Boswell. Borges quiso, con esta posible colaboración con Bioy-Casares en su propia biografía, ser un modelo de ¿héroe como escritor¿. Tal era el modo en que Carlyle definía a Samuel Johnson.
The aim of this research is the study of the connections between Jorge Luis Borges and two of the writers that most influenced him on his literary views: Robert Burton and Samuel Johnson. These two authors proved to be a canonical model for Borges. They also, in turn, opened routes of interrelationship towards other wider connections, both of authors and of topics, mainly within the field of the English literature. The artistic code of the melancholy has been studies as a possible link between Borges and the English Literature. The possibility that the biography of Borges written by Bioy-Casares could have taken as a model the Life of Samuel Johnson, written by James Boswell, is also analysed. Borges wanted, with this possible cooperation with Bioy-Casares in his own biography, to be a model of ¿hero as a writer¿. Such was the way in which Thomas Carlyle depicted Samuel Johnson.
