  • Resumen
    • The author of this dissertation has recognized there is still a lack of a conceptual framework in the entrepreneurship that could embrace the different types of entrepreneurs. This dissertation will focus its analysis on the social entrepreneur.

Based on previous research, the study will develop a conceptual framework to explain the phenomenon of how social entrepreneurs recognize multiple opportunities and develop the intention to pursue them. It will use the case method as a qualitative methodology to explore the success of four social entrepreneurs from Ecuador.

To help understand the conceptual framework, the author will design a scheme that will summarize the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship.

The author has acknowledged that the findings of this study have limitations and cannot be extrapolated to all social entrepreneurs. Nevertheless, from these findings, metrics developed in this research can be used to generalize these results for all social entrepreneurs that share the entrepreneurs profile describe in this dissertation.

Finally, the author expects that this research could be used as a tool and a guide for different members of society like new social entrepreneurs, institutions that provide support to non-profit organizations, government, family and schools.
