This pHD thesis aimed at the characterzation of the heavy metal pollution around abandoned mines as well as to develop processes for the treatment of waste waters including either inorganic waters from mining tailing ponds or containing high amounts of arsenic or containing organic pollutants from the textile industry or persistent organic pollutants.
