This doctoral thesis analyzes the difficulty for women to reach employment, not only to join the labour market but also to remain active in it with equal opportunities as their male peers. This thesis also aims to make an analysis of employment policies and UE and Spanish world class training in order to glimpse the instruments of the Spanish labor law (including collective bargaining and equality plans) which provide women access to training and lifelong learning, as it is considered that those workers with high professional qualifications are more easily able to develop successful careers.
