    Las personas con enfermedades mentales en las cárceles de Bolivia son un caso crítico que requiere atención urgente. A menudo, estas personas terminan en el sistema penitenciario debido a la falta de servicios de internamiento psiquiátrico en el sistema de justicia. A lo largo del presente artículo, se explorarán los siguientes puntos: Incapacidad del sistema judicial para abordar la enfermedad mental de aquellos que cometieron un delito, esto debido a la falta de recursos y personal capacitado en el sistema judicial boliviano; desafíos para identificar y tratar trastornos mentales durante el proceso penal y el impacto negativo de las condiciones carcelarias en la salud mental. Asimismo, el artículo busca arrojar luz sobre la situación actual, destacando la necesidad urgente de reformas en el sistema de justicia boliviano para garantizar un tratamiento adecuado y humano para las personas con enfermedades mentales en lugar del encarcelamiento.

    People with mental illnesses in Bolivian prisons are a critical case that requires urgent attention.

    These people often end up in the prison system, due to the lack of psychiatric inpatient services in the justice system.Throughout this article, the following points will be explored: Inability of the justice system to address the mental illness of those who committed a crime, this is due to a lack of resources and trained personnel in the Bolivian judicial system; challenges to identifying and treating mental disorders during the criminal process and the negative impact of prison conditions on mental health. Likewise, the article seeks to shed light on the current situation, highlighting the urgent need for reforms in the Bolivian justice system to ensure adequate and humane treatment for people with mental illnesses instead of imprisonment.
