La presenza di Maria nella famiglia cristiana: Santa Maria, amparo en nuestro desvalimiento

    Nel racconto del miracolo di Cana, Maria innesca l’azione con la sua richiesta al Figlio e rivolgendo l’invito ai servitori (cf. Gv 2,2-12). Il dono del vino buono viene in soccorso delle necessità di quella festa di nozze, e così delle famiglie e dell’umanità, che ha bisogno di Cristo per poter vivere nella gioia. La ricchezza di significati messianici del primo miracolo di Gesù mostra la particolare sollecitudine del Signore e di sua madre verso la famiglia. Alla luce del racconto evangelico, la Chiesa nel corso della storia ha sempre inteso la presenza della Madre del Signore al fianco degli sposi, e l’ha invocata per le loro necessità; benché a Cana non sia presente Giuseppe, anche la sua persona all’interno della sacra Famiglia è da secoli considerata il sostegno delle famiglie. Con il suo aiuto, le famiglie cristiane possono già oggi essere protagoniste di quel cambiamento culturale che ridarà forza e speranza alla missione dei coniugi nella Chiesa e nella società, secondo l’auspicio espresso dal santo Padre Francesco in diverse occasioni.

    In the story of the miracle at Cana, Mary triggers the action with her request to her Son and by addressing the invitation to the servants (cf. Jn 2:2-12). The gift of good wine comes to the rescue of the needs of that wedding feast, and so of families and humanity, who need Christ in order to live in joy. The wealth of messianic significance of Jesus’ first miracle showing the special solicitude of the Lord and his mother towards the family. In the light of the Gospel story, the Church throughout history has always understood the presence of the Mother of the Lord at the side of married couples, and has invoked her for their needs; although Joseph was not present at Cana, her person within the holy family has also been considered the support of families for centuries. With his help, Christian families can already be protagonists of that cultural change that will restore strength and hope to the mission of spouses in the Church and society, according to the wish expressed by the Holy Father Francis on several occasions.
