    La entrada en vigor del Tratado de Prohibición de Armas Nucleares no contó con la bienvenida del conjunto de la comunidad internacional. Al contrario: fuertes críticas desde los Estados nucleares y sus aliados apuntaron a este nuevo tratado como el responsable de poner en jaque el sistema implantado por el Tratado sobre la No Proliferación de Armas Nucleares. Sin duda el año 2022 ha brindado una oportunidad inigualable para contrastar esta postura debido a la convocatoria de las dos conferencias internacionales que han reunido a los Estados parte de ambos tratados; amén del 77 período de sesiones de la Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas donde el tema nuclear, a colación de la invasión de Ucrania, ha sido también protagonista. Este artículo pretende hacer un recorrido por las normas convencionales vigentes en el sistema nuclear internacional y abordar algunos de los debates abiertos en estos tres foros internacionales, como la compatibilidad entre ambos tratados y la posible generación de una norma consuetudinaria tras la adopción del Tratado de Prohibición de Armas Nucleares.

    The entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was not welcomed by the international community as a whole. On the contrary: strong criticism from the nuclear states and their allies pointed to this new treaty as responsible for jeopardizing the system implemented by the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Undoubtedly, 2022 has provided an unequalled opportunity to contrast this position due to the convening of the two international conferences that have brought together the States parties to both treaties. In addition, the nuclear issue has also been protagonist on the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in relation to the invasion of Ukraine, This article analyzes the conventional norms in force in the international nuclear system and address some of the debates open in these three international forums, such as the compatibility between both treaties and the possible generation of a customary norm after the adoption of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
