    The following study aims to address the theme of children and teenagers’ digital abandon, as well as to identify the possibility of parental responsibility for negligence regarding children’s monitor while using the internet. This approach will seek to characterize as abandon, according to the Brazilian legislation, identify some of the risks of the unassisted exposition of children and teenagers to the cyber world and verify the possibility of making parents responsible for the digital abandon, bringing decisions from the Brazilian court related to the theme. Considering the easy access to the internet and parents’ distraction, children and teenagers may be placed in a risky position surrounded by the virtual world, and therefore the analysis of the theme may contribute for the reflection about the parental care obligation so that children are protected in this atmosphere, which might be considered the new street of today.

    O presente estudo tem como objetivo abordar o tema abandono digital de crianças e adolescentes, identificando a possibilidade de responsabilização dos pais pela negligência em relação aos cuidados com seus filhos na internet. Essa abordagem buscará caracterizar abandono de acordo com a legislação brasileira, identificar alguns dos riscos da exposição desassistida de crianças e adolescentes ao cibermundo e, ainda, verificar a possibilidade de responsabilizar os pais pelo abandono digital, trazendo também julgados dos tribunais brasileiros relativos ao tema. Para tanto, utiliza-se o método dedutivo com pesquisa bibliográfica e jurisprudencial. Com o acesso à internet facilitado e a distração dos pais, crianças e adolescentes podem se colocar em posição de risco no mundo virtual, portanto, a análise do tema pode contribuir para a reflexão sobre o dever de cuidado dos pais, para que seus filhos estejam protegidos nesse ambiente que pode ser considerado a nova rua da atualidade.
