    El presente artículo que constituye una revisión y actualización de un documento previo, inicialmente publicado para el Programa de Posgrado en Derecho de la Universidad de Costa Rica, busca analizar el alcance jurisprudencial del derecho a la vida en el ámbito judicial interamericano y costarricense, con especial referencia a los casos de la fecundación in vitro, el aborto y la eutanasia. En este orden, se hará un recuento crítico y analítico de dichos criterios jurisprudenciales, sin dejar de lado el contexto socio cultural en el que han sido aplicados.

    The present article is a review and update of a previous document, initially published for the Graduate Program in Law of the University of Costa Rica, that analyze the jurisprudential scope of the right to life in the inter-American and Costa Rican judicial sphere, with special reference to cases of in vitro fertilization, abortion and euthanasia. In this order, a critical and analytical account of these jurisprudential criteria will be made, without neglecting the socio-cultural context in which they have been applied.
