    En el Ecuador, no existe un texto normativo específico que haga referencia a la voluntadanticipada o testamento vital, sin embargo, existen cuerpos legales dispersos que reglamentanel sistema de atención de salud, en ellos se busca que las personas legalmente capaces tenganel derecho a adoptar decisiones sobre la propia salud, cuerpo y vida directamente vinculadascon el derecho de realizar actos con conocimiento de causa, saber cuál es el propósito de todoexamen o tratamiento, información suficiente sobre las consecuencias de su voluntad, y enausencia de coacción interna o externa.

    In Ecuador, there is no specific normative text that refers to the advance directive or living will,however, there are dispersed legal bodies that regulate the health care system, in them it issought that legally capable people have the right to make decisions about one's own health,body and life directly linked to the right to perform acts with knowledge of the cause, knowwhat the purpose of any examination or treatment is, enough information about theconsequences of its will, and in the absence of internal or external coercion.
