    La investigación plantea una interpretación de la revolución liberal del Mezzogiorno como etapa central de un largo conflicto interior al reino y, al mismo tiempo, como parte de los acontecimientos que caracterizaron Europa e Italia. Si por un lado la crisis de 1820 marca el punto final de la participación del reino meridional en las guerras de la revolución, del consulado y del imperio, por otro la revolución constitucional puede interpretarse como el momento principal de modernización del reino y el intento más importante de negociación política entre el movimiento liberal-constitucional y la monarquía borbónica.

    The research proposes an interpretation of the liberal revolution of the Mezzogiorno as the central stage of a long conflicto within the kingdom and, at the same time, as part of the events that characterized Europe and Italy. If on the one hand the crisis of 1820 marks the end point of the participation of the southern kingdom in the wars of the revolution, the consulate and the empire, on the other hand the constitutional revolution can be interpreted as the main momento of modernization of the kingdom and the most important political negotiation between the liberal-constitutional movement and the Bourbon monarchy.
