    Desde 2015, el año de la intervención militar rusa en Siria, el Mediterráneo, y especialmente el Mediterráneo oriental, está en el centro de la política exterior de Rusia. Este último lleva años buscando otorgarse el estatus de una gran potencia internacional en oposición a Occidente. Este artículo pretende examinar los motivos de la retirada unilateral de la flota rusa del Mediterráneo tras la desintegración de la URSS, los desafíos de su regreso y los intereses que Moscú defiende en la región.

    Since 2015, the year of Russian military intervention in Syria, the Mediterranean, especially the eastern Mediterranean, is at the heart of Russian foreign policy, which seeks to give itself the status of a great power in opposition to the West. This article intends to set out to examine the reasons for the unilateral withdrawal of the Russian fleet from the Mediterranean after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the challenges related of its return and the interests that Moscow defends in the region.

    Depuis 2015, année de l’intervention militaire russe en Syrie, la Méditerranée, notamment orientale, est au cœur de la politique étrangère de la Russe qui cherche à se donner un statut de grande puissance en opposition à l’Occident. Dès lors le présent article se propose de s’interroger sur les raisons du retrait unilatéral de la flotte russe de la Méditerranée au lendemain de la dislocation de l’URSS, sur les enjeux de son retour et sur les intérêts que Moscou défend dans la région.
