    Al Qaeda en la Península Arábiga (AQAP) es uno de los grupos terroristas vinculados a Al Qaeda más sólidos y resistentes. La turbulenta política de Yemen facilitó el establecimiento de combatientes que volvían de Afganistán, fuertemente ideologizados y con contactos trasnacionales.

    Sin embargo, lo que podría haberse mantenido como una amenaza local, supo evolucionar para ampliar su campo de acción, primero a toda la Península Árabe, y luego a África y occidente. El pragmatismo de sus líderes, unido a una atractiva política de comunicación, lo han convertido en un referente mundial de la Yihad, captando miembros en el mundo árabe y en occidente. Es posiblemente, el mejor activo de AQ en su guerra mundial.

    Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is one of the most resilient terrorist groups linked to Al Qaeda. Yemen has been mired in political turbulence for decades, which facilitated the establishment of fanatic fighters returning from Afghanistan with transnational ties. However, what could have been maintained as a local threat, managed to expand its area of operations, first the entire Arabian Peninsula, then to Africa and the West.

    The pragmatism of its leaders, linked with an attractive communication policy, has become them as a world reference of Jihad, recruiting members in the Arab world and even the West. It is possibly the best AQ’s asset in its global war.
