A narrativa que se repete: estudo sobre a análise do teatro de catequese noBbrasil proposta em panorama do teatro brasileiro

    This article intends to analize Sábato Magaldi‘s scripts, about the catechesis theatre in Brazil, the first scenic art experience in our country, according to him. The chapter O teatro como catequese from the book Panorama do teatro brasileiro (1996. [1962]) will be privileged, trying to investigate and discuss the referential matrices of the theatrical and Historical projects in this author‘s statements about this way of practicing the theatrical art.

    Sábato is an important journalistic and essayistic critic, a retired Professor from Escola de arte dramática of Universidade de São Paulo (EAD/ USP), member of Academia brasileira de letras, considered one of the ―founding parents‖ of the Brazilian theatrical historiography, and this work became a canon of historical theater studies and a fundamental guide of classes in graduation and postgraduate degree theatre and scenic art courses. Coming from a detailed analysis of this work, references that guided this script of the Brazilian theatre history will be investigated, trying to figure out the connections the author establishes between this theatre made by priests and indigenous people in the colonial Brazil and the classic and medieval Greek theatre, in a clear approach effort between the writing of a narrative for the national theatre that fits the traditional narrative standarts about the western theatre. From that, which has been made it will be possible to show: the search for an inclusion of our theatrical history in the European theatrical history; and the double operation made in the connection with two distinct periods, classic and medieval, showing a hierarchical view to the scenic arts in its project of historical writing. The proposed questions come from the inquiries and punctuations put to the traditional ways of analysis of cultural objects by new historicism and the new cultural French history. This communication is inherent in the research project for the dissertation entitled Brazilian sabbathical theatre – the history and the theater on Panorama do teatro brasileiro.

    O artigo pretende analisar os escritos de Sábato Magaldi sobre o teatro de catequese no Brasil, a primeira experiência de artes cênicas em nossa terra, segundo ele. Será privilegiado, como material de estudo o capítulo O teatro como catequese do livro Panorama do teatro brasileiro (1996. [1962]), procurando investigar e discutir as matrizes referenciais dos projetos de teatro e de história contidos nas afirmações desse autor sobre essa forma de praticar-se a arte teatral. Sábato foi um importante crítico teatral jornalístico e ensaístico, professor aposentado da Escola de arte dramática da Universidade de São Paulo (EAD/ USP), membro da Academia brasileira de letras, considerado um dos ―pais fundadores‖ da historiografia teatral brasileira, e esta obra se tornou um cânone dos estudos históricos teatrais e um guia fundamental de aulas nos cursos de graduação e pós-graduação em teatro e artes cênicas. Partindo de uma minuciosa análise desta obra, serão investigadas as referências que guiaram esta escrita da história do teatro brasileiro, procurando entender as relações que o autor estabelece entre esse teatro realizado por padres e indígenas no Brasil colonial e o teatro grego clássico e o teatro medieval, em um claro esforço de aproximação entre a escrita de uma narrativa para o teatro nacional que adeque-se aos moldes da narrativa tradicional sobre o teatro no ocidente. A partir delas será possível demonstrar: a busca de uma inclusão de nossa história teatral à história do teatro europeu; e a dupla operação realizada na conexão com dois períodos distintos, clássico e medieval, demonstrando uma leitura hierarquizada para as artes cênicas no seu projeto de escrita histórica. Os questionamentos propostos partem das indagações e pontuações colocadas às formas tradicionais de análise de objetos culturais pelo new historicism e pela nova história cultural francesa. Essa comunicação é integrante do projeto de pesquisa para dissertação intitulado Teatro brasileiro sabático – a história e o teatro em Panorama do teatro brasileiro.
