    Se analiza la veracidad de la muy difundida aseveración de que el principio de subsidiariedad contenido en la Constitución de 1980 es responsable de los problemas sociales que actualmente sufre Chile, provocando el llamado “estallido social” de octubre de 2019. Para ello, se estudia el origen histórico y dogmático de la subsidiariedad, su relación con el bien común y el papel que la Carta de 1980 le atribuye al Estado de Chile analizando, también, un conjunto de sesgos interpretativos que mucho han influido en el asentamiento de la citada aseveración

    This paper analyzes the veracity of the very widespread assertion that the principle of subsidiarity contained in the Constitution of 1980 is responsible for the social problems that Chile currently suffers, causing the so-called “social outbreak” of October 2019. The historical and dogmatic origin of the subsidiarity, its relationship with the common good, and the role that the Charter of 1980 attributes to the State of Chile are studied, also analyzing a set of interpretative biases that have greatly influenced the settlement of the aforementioned assertion
